How to use
- Download a PDF below and open it in any PDF reader: Preview on a Mac, Edge on Windows, or the reader already on your system.
- Print at actual size or 100% scale, not fit-to-page. Rescaling changes what the alignment grid and the text sizes mean.
- Read the sheet like any test page: smooth gradient bars, distinct gray steps, continuous lines. The file names say which sheet is which.
- Keep a good print and date it. Comparing an old sheet with a new one shows fading inks and drifting colors far better than memory does.
Using the test pages with Epson, Canon, and HP printers
The test pages are brand-neutral vector files. Any inkjet or laser printer that a PDF reader can reach can print them, including Epson, Canon, and HP models, on Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS. Nothing on this page is affiliated with or endorsed by any printer maker.
Brand-specific maintenance stays with the maker's tools. Epson, Canon, and HP each ship nozzle checks, head alignment, and cleaning cycles under their own names in the printer's menu or driver, and the steps differ by model. Run those utilities with the manufacturer's instructions, then use these test pages to judge the result and compare over time.

Do the PDFs or my prints upload anything?
No. The PDFs are static files served like any other page asset, the download goes straight to your device, and printing happens locally through your reader and your printer. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and the page sets no cookies.
Why do the color bars fade to white instead of stopping at a solid block?
Each bar is one ink from full strength down to bare paper. The solid end shows whether the printer lays down complete coverage; the fade exposes banding and clogged nozzles at light coverage, where most everyday printing lives. Paper white at the end also gives you a reference for what the printer does when almost nothing is laid down.
How often should I run a cleaning cycle?
That depends on the model, the ink, and how often you print, so there is no universal interval. Cleaning consumes ink, so run it when a test sheet shows missing lines or color gaps, and stop once the sheet comes back clean.
How do I print the PDFs on a Mac or a PC?
On a Mac, open the file in Preview and press Cmd+P. On Windows, Edge opens PDFs and prints them with Ctrl+P, and any PDF reader works the same way. Set the scale to 100% and print on plain paper. The charts are vector drawings, so they stay sharp at any reader's zoom.
Are these test pages affiliated with Epson, Canon, or HP?
